Watches
Mechanical watches. Details worth preserving.
A watch deserves a record as specific as the watch itself. Reference details, observed condition and service documents help distinguish what is known from what still needs examination.
Identify the exact watch
Begin with the reference and the configuration being examined. Describe the dial, bracelet or strap and the accessories actually present. Keep seller statements separate from supporting documents, and avoid treating a similar example as evidence for this particular watch.
Read the scope of service
A service date alone does not explain the work performed. Preserve the invoice, the named provider, the stated work and any parts listed as replaced. Record what the paperwork does not establish. An older document is a dated observation, not a guarantee of present condition.
Keep completeness factual
List boxes, cards, booklets, tags and spare links individually. A description such as complete set can hide different expectations. Clear inventory and photographs of the actual items make the ownership record easier to understand and update.
